Sally's garden has been transformed - take a look at the before shots and then see how beautifully she has incorporated key elements to create a tasteful, modern leisure area with a glorious pergola for relaxing in the afternoon sun, that is reminiscent of the shadow garden and our new retreat garden shelter, but cleverly customised in a way to suit her garden.
Here's her story:
I bought the house July 2012 and as soon as I was in I knew the small garden was not to my liking. I lived with it for several months before roughly deciding what would possibly work as a layout. I knew I wanted a Pergola at the bottom of the garden, as it gets the sun in the afternoon and evening .
I was in Canterbury one day and came across a Jackson's structure in the Whitefriars paved area and was very impressed with the panels etc, that had been used. I picked up a leaflet and liked the products on show and really it went from there.
Once my partner and I realised you had some show gardens we came to Jacksons at Stowting to have a look. We were incredibly impressed with the quality of products and I instantly knew I wanted one of your Pergola kits and had to incorporate your Venetian fence panels!
We were incredibly lucky to have some very good friends who are retired and generously offered their services to help create the new garden! We brought them along to your show gardens, came home and talked and scribbled some drawings and really it evolved from there.
The old garden was stripped out at the end of March and because our friends live 50 miles away we would generally work on it Saturdays and one day during the week. Apart from the Pergola and the Venetian fencing other decisions were made as we progressed. Soon we realised that sleeper borders would look good in this seaside garden.
Finally we were left with the bare centre of the garden, we had some timber left over and created the offset grass squares edged with timber. The off cuts of sleepers created the base of the Pergola.
My friend Ann and I had great pleasure choosing the plants for the simple planting.
We are incredibly pleased with the end result and thanks to Ray's incredible hard work we have achieved the perfect garden.
We were pleased with all the help that Piers in Jacksons Jakstore gave us when we were ordering and making decisions, and he was very helpful on a couple of occasions when Ray needed to speak to him.
The finishing touch was the pair of Doves that I made a bid for at your show gardens open day and was thrilled to receive the phone call to say they were mine.
