Purchasing and Scheduling Coordinator

Across three sites we employ over 290 people in the design, manufacture and installation of timber and steel fencing and gates.

Overview of position:

This is a critical position within the Purchasing Department, providing support to the Production / Purchasing Manager & Team. The role requires good attention to detail, flexibility, along with the ability to work both autonomously & as part of a team.

Strong computer skills including good working knowledge of Microsoft programs (High level of Excel is essential) are required to carrying out duties efficiently & effectively.

Knowledge and experience of Timber Procurement & the Haulage Industry would be of benefit to the role but not essential

Duties:

  • Purchasing of products, materials & services as required to fulfil sales order in production on time
  • Liaise with suppliers on a regular basis to maintain good working relationship
  • Coordinate with hauliers / suppliers to schedule collections & deliveries of goods procured
  • Schedule deliveries to minimise stock holding & maximise production efficiently
  • General stock control / management including goods received notes / invoices, reviewing stock levels etc
  • Create & maintain accurate purchasing, supplier & delivery records
  • Monitor supplier quality & delivery performance
  • Provide general administrative support to the Manager & Team

    Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure ad hoc purchases are made at the minimum cost & required standard
  • Review & evaluate supplier competitiveness 
  • Research & identify new / alternative suppliers that may improve value & service
  • Liaise & communicate with all departments as required ensuring information is supplied accurately & in a timely manner
  • Always represent the company in a professional manner
  • Ensure that all operational and procedural guidelines for I.T./Business systems are followed to protect the data integrity
  • Ensure that Company and Statutory Health & Safety requirements are met are maintained at all times
  • Be responsible for your own personal safety, act responsibly and respectfully at all times to protect the safety of all colleagues
