Configure your shape

Please give us the measurements, in millimetres, of the size you would like your decking to be. Please note, 1m is the equivalent to 1000mm:

  • mm
  • mm
  • mm
  • mm

Useful Conversions

0.5m = 500mm   2.0m = 2000mm
1.0m = 1000mm   2.5m = 2500mm
1.5m = 1500mm   3.0m = 3000mm

Which direction should your boards run?

  1. 1000
  2. 1000
  3. 1000
  4. 1000

Boards should always run the opposite way to the natural direction of traffic.

We have two types of boards available, either standard, or heavy duty (best used for decking that will have heavy usage)

Please select which board you need:

  • Standard

    Planed from 100x25mm section boards giving a finished size of approx 95x21mm

  • Heavy Duty

    Planed from 150x32mm section boards giving a finished size of approx 143x28mm

Are you building your deck on flat ground or sloping ground?

On sloping ground there is some tolerance in the posts

If your slope is above 350mm in difference then please call us on to arrange a site visit.

If your slope is below 350mm in difference then you can select posts based on flat ground as there is suitable tolerance in post depths.

My site has less than 350mm difference in slope

On flat ground you will need of the same height posts

Please select a height:

  • Recommended 0.6m Note: max. 400mm out of ground, 200mm in ground
  • 0.9m Note: max. 700mm out of ground, 200mm in ground
  • 1.2m Note: max. 900mm out of ground, 300mm in ground

Add fascia boards* to finish off your new decking:

We have calculated that you will need a minimum of:
fascia boards.
(3.6m x 95mm x 21mm nominal)

This is based on decking laid on even height posts, you may need to add to this figure to allow for parts of your decking being taller than a single fascia board.
Add fascias Do not add any fascias

* Fascia boards are standard decking boards

Installing your new Deck

We have calculated your deck based on the following installation guidelines:

Joist and Post Installation

  1. The number of rows of joists is:
  2. The space between each row of joists is: mm
  3. Please ensure that you allow for at least 3 posts per joist
  4. Please note, we have allowed for a 5% increase in boards to ensure that you have enough to complete your project

Laying your joists

When laying your joists please start at row 1 by laying one complete joist at a right angle to the direction that your boards are going to run. Continue to lay joists end on end until you have exceeded the width of your deck. Cut off any excess joist and then start row 2 with the resulting off cut. Please see the diagram below for a visual representation of this.

Diagram to show how the offcut from row 1 should be used to start row 2.

Example shown based on a 5000mm (5m) wide deck.

Fascias

All our fascias are standard decking boards. Should you wish to add a fascia we have calculated that you will need of these to finish off your deck.
