Lap Panel Fencing

Lap Panels are manufactured using slats that run horizontally across the lap panels.  These slats run the full width of the panel and sometimes have vertical battens that hold these slats in place.  The panel has a frame that runs round the whole panel holding all the slats together. 

At Jacksons we don’t offer lap panels or the alternatives to Lap panels (Larch Lap,Waney Lap, Overlap Panels). Although lap panels are attractive the slats that have to be used are only 5-6mm thick and this allows them to be vulnerable to the wet and also the dry. 

Also due to the thickness of the slats they will tend to fade and distort sometimes leaving unsightly gaps in the panels.  Another disadvantage of lap panels, if plants are placed near these panels then the plants will sometimes grow through the panels which can cause the slats to move and for the gaps to appear.  Most Panels that are not purchased from Jacksons are only dip treated which will not give the right level of protection that Jacksons would supply.  Often these panels are made with only plated steel nails or staples that will rust in a short time.
