Credit Manager - Jane

What Year did you start working at Jacksons?

1995

Why did you decide to join Jacksons?

I heard about the vacancy and thought it would be a good career opportunity.

Can you describe your role?
My role involves talking to the customers directly to obtain payment or deal with their queries.

What do you enjoy about the role and how does it impact customers?

I enjoy my role as a Credit Manager. You get to speak to different customers each day and a fair few of the regular ones I’ve got to know well, so we have a good working relationship.
It’s a great family run business. In my 27 years of employment with Jacksons I can honestly say I love working for them and I’m proud that I’ve helped and continue to help them grow into the business it is today.

What’s it like to work here?
One of the best things about Jacksons that many of us say is that it’s like an extended family. All employees are great to work with and won’t hesitate to offer a helping hand if you need it.

Approved Installer Manager - Chris

Name: Chris Hone

What Year did you start working at Jacksons?

2017

Why did you decide to join Jacksons?

Jacksons is a long-standing company which I had dealt with as a customer previously. The fact that they produce high quality items and do not compromise on any aspect whilst delivering them, tied in with my own values.

Can you describe your role?
To grow and nurture a group of independent companies with similar values to Jacksons who, through education and support, become advocates of our products.

What do you enjoy about the role and how does it impact customers?

I love the fact that through my interactions with our existing Approved Installers, I can not only impact the financial success of both the installers and Jacksons but can confidently say we are giving best advice to all our end customers and increasing the awareness of Jacksons’ products.

What’s it like to work here?
Every day will throw up a new challenge or an opportunity to learn something new about an aspect of the business. One of the best parts is that there is great camaraderie with everyone I deal with.

Senior Marketing Manager - Nick

Name: Nick Bishenden

What Year did you start working at Jacksons?

2007

Why did you decide to join Jacksons?

I was working in an IT role that I enjoyed, but sometimes you just need make a jump to bigger and better things. After reading about Jacksons and the family run business aspect, I decided that I liked the idea of being part of the team, and here I am over 15 years later.

Can you describe your role?
My role has changed significantly since I started. I was working in the IT department supporting staff with computer queries and helping move the infrastructure forward. I then found myself involved in helping with the Jacksons websites and being part of some of the marketing tactics. I now overlook the Marketing department but it’s an active role that I get stuck into many aspects of.

What do you enjoy about the role and how does it impact customers?

We are lucky in the marketing department as we get to promote a product that we believe in. All our products are high quality, and this makes marketing them enjoyable. It’s about making sure our customers receive that message through our marketing channels. There are parts of the role that are difficult, one example is trying to promote how passionate our staff are about working for Jacksons and the effort that goes into making the products. Unless you visit our site and get to meet some of our staff in our manufacturing plants, I don’t believe you will ever feel the passion that our staff have simply by looking on our website.

What’s it like to work here?

I never thought that I would stay working for one company for more than a few years as in my mind a role would lose excitement and it means that I was becoming stagnant. I was wrong, I love being part of the Jacksons team, everyone is friendly, and I still find it as exciting as the day I started.

IT Manager - Robert

Name: Robert Parsons (Started in 1977)

Why did you decide to join Jacksons?

My initial career was with a firm of local accountants, however I very quickly decided that was not a career that I wanted to pursue. Jacksons was a local family run business and very much smaller than it is today. My initial role was ‘Buying Office Assistant’, it was very interesting and I was impressed by the momentum at which the business was expanding. Ian Jackson who founded the business with his father back in 1947 was completely focused on driving the business forward. He decided to invest in various management and business training courses for me and I quickly moved into running the computer systems, including various project work around Accounting, Stock Control, Credit Control, Marketing and Websites

Can you describe your role?
My role has always been very interesting and varied and I currently head up the companies IT functions, including Infrastructure, IT Strategy and security, Business Systems, and Data Management.

What do you enjoy about the role and how does it impact customers?

I enjoy the many challenges and working with the internal IT team and my colleagues across the company. I also enjoy working with and managing many of our systems’ suppliers.

What’s it like to work here?
I have always enjoyed my varied job role and have been supported by the business, because it is still family run you are respected as an individual and that works for me.
