Ask for FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®)
or PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certified products.
Jacksons Fencing have achieved certification under the environmental chain-of-custody schemes of both the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and the PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification).
The majority of our timber product range can be offered certified under one of these two schemes. The environmental chain-of-custody which is monitored from forest source, to primary producer sawmills, through to Jacksons Fencing, allows us to ensure that all timber used in certified Jacksons products has been responsibly sourced. However, despite the enormous added environmental and social value that this brings, there is no increased price to the customer. (Ask for FSC or PEFC certified products).
This means local authorities and contractors, many of which will only use FSC or PEFC timber, can now rely on a long established, quality manufacturer to provide them with the kind of quality, responsibly-sourced products they require.
Peter Jackson, Managing Director, said, “We are obviously delighted to have been recognised for our environmentally friendly policies and we are proud to bear the FSC or PEFC logos on our products. We know this is an issue that is important to many of our customers and are glad of the opportunity to show we are listening to them.”
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is the organisation that has become synonymous with timber certification. To date, some 41 million hectares of forest worldwide are certified to FSC’s forest management standards and the FSC ‘tick-tree’ logo is comfortably the most widely recognised brand. FSC also enjoys the full support of environmental campaigners and bodies, such as Greenpeace and WWF and is regarded as the benchmark for all forest management standards.
The Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC)
The Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), formerly known as the Pan-European Forest Certification, scheme has emerged and has grown with such rapidity that it now manages a greater area of certified forest than FSC. PEFC is a network of independent national forest certification standards that effectively operate under a single brand. To date, 13 European countries have had their national forest certification systems endorsed by PEFC, amounting to a combined certified forest area of 51.6 million hectares.
